Meet your hosts
Julie & Toby
We moved into Castle Folly (the main house not the BnB!) in 2018. We loved the folly but it was very run down so we used it as a glorified shed. Then in 2021 after watching the BBC’s ‘My Unique B&B’ programme we had a light bulb moment and before we knew it we had a crew of nine turn up on our doorstep to help restore it! It was a fascinating and exhausting experience; we all worked hard to transform the folly into the beautiful space it is today.
The BnB has been up and running since April 2022. We enjoy thinking up quirky additions and personal touches for our guests such as the little knights hidden in the folly, and small homemade gifts. Thanks to fantastic feedback from our guests, we are Airbnb Superhosts.

Nestled in countryside
Priors Marston is a beautiful little village set in the Warwickshire countryside with its own pub, village hall and school. There are plenty of options for walks from Castle Folly itself, and we have maps to help you. These include walks to the village of Napton, which has a pub and a cidery; the golf club and restaurant; Honesberie shooting club which has a café, and the nearby village of Hellidon which also has a great pub.
There are also lots of places further afield to visit.

“Castle folly was such an amazing stay. The personal touches and attention to detail really made the stay great. Julie and Toby went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and we really appreciated this. Would recommend this to anyone wanting to relax in the countryside.”

“Wonderful stay, very unique accommodation. Clean, comfortable and has lots of lovely personal touches. Great outdoor seating space and of course the hot tub perfect in which to relax with a glass of Prosecco or two.”

“An incredibly unique BnB with super friendly and responsive hosts. The whole experience was really something special, all the little extra touches Julie and Toby added really made our stay incredible.”

“This is one of the best Airbnbs you can stay in! Such a unique property, but mainly it’s the hosts which make this property! So many small, personal touches (which I will keep secret so as not to spoil the surprises!) in an extremely well-thought-out property with so much character! The village is beautiful, and you can walk straight from the property for miles! I would recommend it to anyone!”

“Stunning and quirky place to stay. Hosts Julie and Toby went above and beyond for us, and although the Airbnb is on their property we didn’t see them at all during our stay, it felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. So responsive as well, I couldn’t ask for more.”

“An absolutely gorgeous place to stay! The folly has been beautifully and thoughtfully fitted out with lots of lovely extras that were truly welcoming. An afternoon walk with a pub lunch and an evening in the hot tub with a perfect view of the lit-up castle was idyllic! Thank you!”
The history of Castle Folly
The folly is part of a 200 year old walled garden. It was in fact the boiler house which heated water in pipes built into the wall, enabling pineapples to be grown along the wall in lean-to greenhouses. At the time pineapples were the ultimate symbol of wealth.
In the 1900’s the folly became a ruin, and we have been told by our local milkman that children used to play in it. In the 1970’s Olympic horse rider Caroline Bradley trained her horses in the garden. In the 1980’s the house was built and lived in by David and Jill Sutton. David was a rally owner who won the FIA World Rally Championships in 1981, and Jill was a rally driver. They restored the folly and used it as an office.

Sorry, but we don’t accept dogs so you will have to leave your furry friend behind just this once.
Is it okay to bring a young child with us?
The folly isn’t suitable for children who are able to get about themselves as the stairs are open. If you wish to bring a baby that is fine and we can provide a travel cot. Space is tight though!
Can we check in early/late?
Normal check-in time is 3.00 PM onwards and check-out by 11.00 AM. For a small fee, we may be able to accommodate an earlier check-in or later check-out depending on other bookings and our commitments. Please just ask.
Will my mobile phone work?
We get a good signal with EE and 3, but other networks don’t work inside the castle (you might pick them up on a walk around the village). The Folly does have Wi-Fi.
What about parking?
We have a large private driveway outside the Folly for you to park in. Parking is at your own risk, we don’t accept any responsibility or liability for any damage that may occur.
How private is the Castle Folly?
The folly is in our garden, and close to the house, so you may briefly see us, especially in the summer. We are however as respectful as possible of your privacy. The hot tub and outside seating area are tucked around the side of the house, and we will not go there when you are here unless you ask us to. We are very sociable and enjoy meeting our guests, so if you would like to meet us, or for us to take your photo outside the castle, please just ask.
What food options are there?
The Folly has a hob with two rings but no cooker or microwave. There are lots of pots, pans etc. for you to make a simple meal, we even have a potato masher and a grater following suggestions from previous guests! We provide food sufficient for two breakfasts including mild, orange juice, bread, jam, cereals, eggs, and baked beans.
For eating out options within walking distance include the Chinese takeaway at the pub (1 minute), Honesberie shooting club (30 minutes), golf club (45 minutes), the Red Lion at Hellidon (75 minutes), and The Folly at Napton (75 minutes). Of course, driving is a lot quicker, and there are lots of other places you can drive to.
Are there lots of nice places to walk?
Yes, there are lots of lovely walks from Castle Folly. We have maps to help you with different lengths of walks that include a coffee stop. We are also on the millenium way.
We don’t have a car, can we still get to you?
The closest railway station is Banbury, a 20-minute drive away, and there are taxis available. In addition, if he is available Toby will be happy to pick you up, for a fee of course.
Can we watch the BBC programme you were in on iPlayer?
Sadly not, it was available for a while but has now been removed.
Anything else we might like to know?
Just that the folly is a genuine old building so it doesn’t have double glazing and may be a bit drafty! We do have a heated floor (lovely when you come in from the hot tub), a heater upstairs, and heated blankets and our guests tell us it’s very cosy!
Also, we do try our best to keep them out, but this is a very rural area so little insects do sometimes find their way inside.
We pride ourselves on making sustainable, ethical choices in the products we use at Castle Folly where possible. In the summer solar panels heat the hot tub.
We donate 5% of profits to our favourite charities, Kids club Kampala, Paw Prints, Magic breakfast, Cool earth and Orangutang Appeal UK
